The LUCIA Building, as well as being a functional, advanced infrastructure for applied scientific research is a benchmark in energy efficiency and sustainable architecture. It recently obtained the certificate for the most sustainable building in Europe and the second worldwide. It is the highest scoring "Leed Platinum" for a new construction throughout Europe and the entire northern hemisphere, including the United States. Burdinola, for its part, has also contributed to obtaining this certification through its equipment and facilities.

In the various laboratories in the LUCIA Building, which has a total floor space of 5,000 m2 and is equipped with Burdinola furnishings, a variety of multidisciplinary research projects are carried out which are dependent on the University of Valladolid (medicine, engineering, etc.). It should be noted that Burdinola, through its equipment and facilities, has contributed to obtaining this "Leed Platinum" certificate (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) for sustainable buildings.
