The Carlos III Health Institute, is the main public research body (OPI), which finances, manages and executes biomedical research in Spain. With more than 20 years of research in life and health sciences and the provision of reference services, it is also the managing body of the Strategic Health Action (AES) in the framework of the National R & D Plan + I.

Placing the patient and the citizenry at the center of all their objectives and activities, the entity promotes and coordinates Biomedical research and offers the highest quality Scientific and Technical Services, in collaboration with all agents of the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Burdinola, specialist in laboratory solutions, has been the company chosen to carry out the equipment of the laboratories of the new National Microbiology Center of the Institute of Health Carlos III in the town of Majadahonda in Madrid.
The project presented by Burdinola has integrated the latest advances in technology applied to all areas of the laboratories: safety, fume cupboards, materials, environment, sustainability and energy saving.

The new CNM, with more than 8,000 m2 built, will integrate besides general laboratories, animal and a laboratory with biosafety level 3, constituting the national reference center for the detection and analysis of organisms that cause emerging diseases, such as Ebola, Zika…

The functions of the Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCIII), are based on three pillars:

  • Biomedical research: promotion and development of excellence and highly competitive research
  • Scientific-technical services: Provision of support reference services to the General State Administration and to the National Health System.
  • Scientific-technical sanitary training: training programs in public health, health management and management, and scientific management and management, mainly aimed at health professionals.
